Project
Safebox.
Summary
Safebox is a data acquisition system for cars. It's aim is to provide ICBC with relevant data from our driving habits and traffic collisions. Safebox can act as a deterrent of traffic offenses as well as a reliable witness during traffic arbitration. By pairing the adoption of Safebox with a generous rate reduction, ICBC can encourage drivers to opt-in the service while leaving the choice up to the customers.
Full Description
Safebox uses the Texas Instruments' SensorTag to extract speed, acceleration, and gyroscope data from the moving vehicle. This data is then sent wirelessly to a receiving station running either Android or Linux operating systems. Node RED is then utilized to make the necessary calculations and adjustments to the data, such as setting thresholds, baseline calculations and so forth. The processed data is then sent to the cloud through WoTKit for storage.
